Sheffield Labour lefties - read this and despair
Sheffield Labour MPs nominating Gordon Brown:Any Labour members out there who wanted a contest - you know who to blame...
David Blunkett (Sheffield Brightside)
Richard Caborn (Sheffield Central)
Angela Smith (Sheffield Hillsborough)
Meg Munn (Sheffield Heeley)
Clive Betts (Sheffield Attercliffe)
Sheffield Labour MPs not nominating Gordon Brown:
(none)
Also I read that Meg Munn (edit: and Angela Smith and Clive Betts) supported today's thoroughly shameful attempt to make MPs exempt from the Freedom of Information Act.
Not a good day for what the Labour Party is meant to stand for, really.
Comments:
What exactly IS the Labour party meant to stand for? Considering that you're a Liberal ;P
As a Labour lefty I might add that I personally didn't encounter much dissatisfaction with Brown in the party. Unhappiness about Blair yes but overall most of them were less resigned as they were keen to transfer to Brown.
I don't think there is much to despair about yet. I was to be honest quite pleased that Brown intelligently offered a position to Ashdown, it's a shame the Lib Dems don't have the same calibre of leadership now.
Come to think of it I think it's easier to define what Labour stands for in simple creed statements than it is for the Lib Dems and in a sense that is the problem for the electorate. Labour has a blunt simplistic rhetoric the Lib Dems have always been too intelligent and thoughtful in the way they express themselves (successful politics is about thinking intelligently and conveying it simply).
With all due respect to someone who bothers to think about the issues :)
